Madhupur Garh or Madhupur Shalban or Madhupur Jungle is a large forested area in central Bangladesh. The Madhupur area extends from the southern part of Jamalpur district in the north to Fatulla thana of Narayanganj Sadar upazila in the south. Tangail and Gazipur districts and most areas of Dhaka city fall within this average zone. The northern part of the ghar is known as Madhupur ghar and the southern part as Bhawal ghar. Madhupur National Park and Bhawal National Park are formed from Gara part of Madhupur upazila and Bhawal National Park from Gazipur.
After the Madhupur forest came under the forest department in 1962, initiatives were taken to conserve the biodiversity of this forest. According to the Bangladesh Wildlife Conservation Act of 1974, two national parks named Madhupur and Bhawal were declared in 1982 for the purpose of biodiversity conservation.[1] This famous Shal forest is located in Kuragacha Union. There are also rubber plantations, howda bill, pineapple plantations, small herds.
